Canoe Camping

Last weekend, I went canoe camping in Wisconsin with my immediate family and my aunt. We started down the river and stopped at a couple sandbars. On the first one, we had lunch and a snack. The second one was more of an island and we went camping there. There were no bathrooms so we had to go in the sand or in the water! We played in the water a lot and built sand castles, pools, and a hot tub. The next day, we continued canoeing and at the end our car was there. Getting into the canoe parking area was pretty tricky! There was a fast moving part of the river we had to get across, and we got stuck on some rocks too.

Spring Break in Portugal

My favorite parts of going to Portugal was all the gelato we had and that we got to go surfing. Our surfing lesson was fun. No one can resist surfing. Gelato is good. No one can resist it. Surfing was on the last day and I really loved it. Surfing was closer to the beach so we got to surf more waves! Some waves were too big and our instructor didn’t let us ride those. I can’t wait to go back!

Family Road Trip

Over the holidays, my family and I went on a road trip, visiting five different National Parks. At Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, we took a long hike into a canyon and got to see a beautiful water fall. It was similar to the water fall hike we did over last summer at Hanging Lake in Colorado. We also spent time in Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas where we got to bottle fresh spring water straight from the ground! It was super hot and hard to carry. My dad had to carry the water jugs on one finger and kept having to take breaks to let his fingers cool down. In Kentucky, we went to Mammoth Cave National Park and there were little creatures that looked like spiders but they were actually related to cave crickets. That was a great and fun trip!

Now we’re back at home and in school, and I’m very excited about turning 7 tomorrow!

Halloween is close!

I am so excited about Halloween this year. My family often tries to come up with a theme for all of us. This year, I’m going to be a vampire! I have a cape, necklace, and a staff with my vampire costume. My mom is the vampire victim! My sister is a zombie football player, and my dad is a zombie victim. My aunt Emmy is going to be vampire and zombie hunter. I made a deal with her though. I promised that I wouldn’t bite her if she wouldn’t hunt for me. Now that we made that deal, she is just a zombie hunter.

Colorado and Utah summer kick-off

At the end of the school year, my family and I took a trip to Colorado and Utah.

One thing that we did was go to an old real gold mine. We went into a cave and we chiseled out our own fake gold with real gold in it!

In Utah we took a hummer tour through the mountains. One time we stopped on a steep hill because the engine “broke” and then he went zooming so fast! Our parents were terrified.

We went on a straight-up hike at Hanging Lake. It was hard and tiring but we are so glad we did it. When we got to the top, my mom, sister, and I went up even higher up the trail where we went behind a waterfall and felt the mist. It was straight-down on the way back.

We also went on a hummer tour of Rocky Mountain National Park where we saw different animals, such as elk and mountain sheep. At the top, the weather changed and it was freezing cold and hailing! It was also storming and we had blankets to keep us warm. We got cold very quickly at each of our stops.

Hawaii

Since I’m in a big-girl school now, I officially have my own Spring Break! This year, my family and I went to Hawaii. We went surfing, where my sister’s last wave was the best. There was one wave that I rode all the way to the end and I was just standing up on the surfboard in the water! I waved to my dad and said “the wave is over!”. While there, we also had shaved ice from a couple of different places, we went swimming at two different hotel pools, and we bought new Hawaii-themed masks and a souvenir t-shirt. My aunt was there, and my grandma and grandpa were there too. We had a great week together, though they had to leave after the first few days.

To a new year!

Kindergarten is still going well here, though we’re still doing remote learning. I can’t wait to go in-person, which is currently scheduled for February 1st, but my parents aren’t overly optimistic it’ll actually happen. I’m not too worried about it either way. Right now I’m wrapping up my holiday break. Even though I’m with my family all the time, it was still great to spend lots of time with them and best of all no homework! I hope everyone has a great 2021!

Kindergarten

So I’ve been in kindergarten about a month now and we’re off to a great start. We started remotely, so while I’m technically in the same school as my sister, I’ve never been there! We do sit across the same dining room table though, so it’s practically the same thing. The best part about remote learning is that I got my own computer now and I’m pretty savvy with it, if I must say so myself. Since we’re remote, my family decided to get a change of scenery and spend time somewhere on the east coast. I’m not really sure where we are, but this place does have indoor and outdoor pools where I can stand, so I’m having a blast!

Until next time my friends!

Summer begins

Well preschool didn’t resume as quickly as expected, so I graduated from preschool virtually. My family threw me a huge party with catered food and drinks! Well, some of it might have been for my aunt’s birthday, but that’s besides the point. I walk around telling everyone that I’m a kindergartener now, and in related news, I got into the same school that my sister goes to! I’ll be off to summer camp at my old preschool for the next couple months before I start the big K (hopefully in person!).

Until next time,

Going Virtual

Well things have certainly changed in the last few months. I’ve been home from Pre-K for a week and a half now. I’ve been loving all the extra time with my family! I missed my friends a lot the first week, but now the teachers are doing “social time” with random friends daily via video and also doing a virtual “circle time” with everyone where we learn about the weekly topic. I can’t wait to get back to school, hopefully some time next month!

Take care everyone!

Edie P, out!
