Almost 5!

Time certainly does fly when you’re having fun. I can’t wait to turn 5 next month! I remind everyone I come across that my birthday is coming up. My dad even told people I was 5 recently (when the minimum age for entrance was 5 years old)! My family travels a lot and we’ve accidentally found good travel deals over my sister and my birthday last year, and it happened again this year. I’ll be turning 5 in Munich! I’m not really sure where that is, but I do like to visit new places and experience new things.

Edie P, over and out!

Summer time

I’m almost 5 years old and this is only my fourth post? Something doesn’t sound right about that!

I’ve been having a great time over the summer, spending lots of time outside and going on field trips. A lot of my classmates in pre-K graduated to kindergarten last week, so now I’m queen of the classroom for my last year! My best friend Camilla is still with me so it will be a blast.

My family recently moved to a new house and I got my own bedroom. It took nearly a full month before I wanted to sleep in there by myself though. Now I kind of float between rooms. Did I mention that I’m out of pull-ups now too? That makes falling asleep anywhere that much easier. I hear I’ll be losing my new room soon but for the best reason — my Aunt Emmy will be moving in with us! My parents are working on finishing the basement (whatever that means) so she’ll have her own space long-term.

Hopefully I get my post count up soon, but for now…

Potty time

Dearest readers,

I can’t believe I haven’t posted in almost two years!  As you can imagine, a lot has changed in that time.  I learned how to walk, started to speak in short phrases, and continued to travel the world with my family.  They sure do take me along on some crazy trips, but I’m a great traveler and love the adventure.  I am already up to 12 countries!

I’m writing today because of my latest achievement — going potty on my own little toilet for the very first time!  I pulled it up alongside Lydia’s big-girl toilet and she showed me how it all works.  It was a resounding success and everyone was high-fiving me after I was done.  I was pretty excited myself and kept asking people to go look at my potty.  I’m planning to keep it up, so we’ll see how it goes!

In other news, I’m about to graduate from day care and start preschool next month.  I’ll actually be in the same preschool as Lydia for three months before she goes off to kindergarten.  I’m super excited about meeting new friends and learning more.  My parents are excited themselves for having a single drop-off and pick-up for a few months.

Peace out,
Edie P

My theme song

Wow how time flies; I can’t believe I’m six months old already!

Things are going well on my end.  The first few months I was just getting used to my surroundings but lately I’ve started to open up.  I now smile, giggle, and my latest trick is to squeal and watch people’s reactions.

My parents and big sister are always on the go.  I thought we’d just hang around the house for a few years but I’ve already been out camping twice and took a road trip to Toronto, Canada.  I’m not sure where that is; I just know I had to pose for some silly picture to get in so it must be for the elite only.

…and now what you’ve all been waiting for, the theme song my Mom came up with recently to keep me calm and happy.

Now this is a story all about how
My young life got flipped-turned upside down
And I’d like to take a minute just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I finally was able to explore Lincoln Square

On the north side of Chicago, born and raised,
in the rock n’ play is where I spend most of my days
Chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all cool
Hangin’ with my ‘rents cuz I’m too young for school
When my big sis Lid, she knows I’m new to the hood
Says we should see the plaza, I thought yeah, we should
I’ve got one little problem, you see I can’t walk
I need my parents to help me but I can’t even talk
So I gave a little cry and my parents came near
Big sis understood, said she could put an end to my tears

All packed in the stroller, me and Lid are a pair
We are finally on our way, yo ‘rents to Lincoln Square
We roll down the street, full bottle in my hand
Next’s a left on Lincoln, man this street is slammed
The fountain’s in view, we are so almost there
And that’s how I first got to see Lincoln Square

That’s all for now folks!

Edie P out.

Hello world!

So today is my official due date, but I actually arrived two days ago.  It’s pretty neat that all kids are born with their own blogs these days!

So far, I don’t have much to say.  I’ve been sleeping a lot and hanging out with my big sister Lydia.  She is confused about me sleeping all the time but when I’m awake she helps feed and entertain me.

That’s it for now.  Stay tuned!
